Along with her creative work in fashion and art, Irina has had a very successful teaching career as well.

In August 2019, Irina joined the then newly established Fashion Program within Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts (HIDA) at Arizona State University (ASU), which in 2022 underwent major expansion and transformed into ASU FIDM.

There, under the leadership of ASU FIDM Founding Director Dennita Sewell, Irina led the establishment and curriculum development of the Fashion Design sequence, for which she created and taught a wide range of foundational and advanced fashion design courses, including Fashion Design and Illustration, Construction / Junior Studio, Collection Development, Fashion Design Capstone / Senior Studio, and more.

While focusing on cultivating creativity, acquisition of advanced knowledge and development of advanced design skills by her students, Irina introduced strong emphasis on sustainable practices by including in her courses such topics as zero-waste design, upcycling and circular fashion.

As she taught upper level fashion design courses through 2025 academic year, Irina also advised students and led and supervised creation of numerous fashion collections which were showcased at ASU FIDM 'Uncertainty'Fashion Shows in partnership with Scottsdale Fashion Square and 'Compassion With Fashion' Gala events in partnership with Margaret Merritt Productions, which regularly broke fund-raising records and raised $2.1M for AZ Humane Society in 2025 alone.

Prior to joining ASU, since 2010, Irina served as a faculty member at the Fashion Program at Stephens College in Columbia, MO, where she taught art and fashion courses and served as the school's ambassador to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) as she led and supervised the development, production and submission of her students' works to CFDA scholarship competitions.

During her time at Stephens College, Irina was multiple times nominated for Excellence in Teaching Award and recognized as representing "Creativity" - one of Stephens' Ten Ideals. She also served on Presidential Inaugural Committee of the College and created the Inaugural Logo. Irina also served as a Committee Member of Citizen Jane Film Festival and created "Lady Jane" – a center-piece sculpture of the Festival, which for many years became one of its most recognized symbols.
